ChaseLedger Editorial Standards

How we verify formulas, distinguish estimates from confirmed facts, evaluate sports-card evidence, and maintain public guides and calculators.

What ChaseLedger publishes

Our public resources focus on sports-card decision making: acquisition cost, selling fees, break-even pricing, ROI, grading economics, auction bidding, comparable-sale research, collection recordkeeping, and release-date evidence.

Source hierarchy

When a time-sensitive claim depends on an external rule or date, we prefer the primary source: marketplace fee documentation, grading-company standards, manufacturer release pages, or government definitions. Established industry sources can corroborate or fill gaps; retailer/community evidence is labeled with lower confidence.

How calculators are checked

Calculator formulas are tested against documented scenarios and boundary cases. Public calculators are intentionally manual and simplified; they show assumptions and do not claim to reproduce every marketplace's complete settlement logic.

How market evidence is handled

Completed sales are stronger evidence of accepted prices than active asking prices. Exact card identity, condition or grade, recency, sample size, and outliers all affect confidence. Sparse evidence should produce a wider range or lower confidence rather than false precision.

Freshness and corrections

Time-sensitive pages display or preserve verification dates where practical. Marketplace rules and release dates can change. When we identify an error, we correct the page or data record rather than silently preserving a known-bad claim.

Financial and tax boundary

ChaseLedger explains collection economics and recordkeeping. Public content is educational and is not individualized tax, legal, investment, or financial advice. Tax treatment depends on facts, jurisdiction, and the user's circumstances.
